The short version

LLMO — large language model optimisation — is shaping how your brand is represented inside models like ChatGPT and Gemini, so they describe you accurately and bring you up in the right conversations.

It matters because behaviour is moving: Gartner expects a quarter of search volume to shift to AI assistants by 2026. If a model can’t describe your business well, you’re absent from those answers. Source: Gartner.

How LLMO actually works.

Large language models build a picture of your brand from everything they’ve read — your website, yes, but also reviews, directories, press, forums and social profiles. LLMO is the work of making that picture accurate and consistent, so a model describes what you do correctly and brings you up when it’s relevant.

In practice that means stating plainly who you are, where you are and what you offer; keeping your details identical everywhere they appear; and earning mentions on sources the models already trust. You can’t edit a model directly — but you can shape the evidence it learns from, and that’s where the work pays off.

What is LLMO?

LLMO is about how large language models understand your brand. These models learn from a huge swath of the web, and increasingly look things up in real time before answering.

LLMO improves both sides of that: the signals the models have absorbed about who you are and what you're good at, and how easily they can retrieve and cite you in the moment someone asks.

Become the obvious source.

Be the clear source

Content that states plainly what you do and why you're credible — the kind of passage a model can quote with confidence.

Consistent entity everywhere

Your name, location and expertise described the same way across your site, profiles and the wider web, so models form a confident picture.

Earn credible mentions

Coverage and citations on sources these models already trust — the digital-PR side of being known.

Got questions? Fair enough.

SEO is about ranking in search results; GEO is about appearing in AI-generated answers in search; LLMO is broader — it's about your standing inside the models themselves and the sources they draw on. In practice they overlap heavily and share the same groundwork.
No, and anyone who promises that is bluffing — the model makers control the output. What I can do is make your brand the clearest, best-evidenced, most consistently described option in the places these models learn from and look things up.
